Serious fun for families

Ralph Cartar says we need to let nature take its course

We asked people to write a note to Ted Morton. David Swann and Harry Chase continue to support our efforts to Save Kananaskis.

Doug (that's me) holds the stack of e-mails from the hundreds of people that wrote last year to call for an end to logging in Kananaskis

Hot dogs, watermelon and cupcakes decorated with a sprig of spruce were served.

About 200 people came to pick up a tag and show their support.

Paola devoted endless hours and enthusiasm to organize the successful event.

David Eggen (in the yellow shirt), joined Ralph Cartar (with a big smile), Harry Chase, David Swann and Brad Clute to support the campaign.

Susan O'Shea and Darrell Park performed for an enthusiastic crowd.

Two women got their tags and their picture taken.

See Scott Diehl perform a video clip from "If A Tree Falls".
We asked people to "Write 2 Ted Morton". The images below show some of what was said.

At the launch of the Tag A Tree campaign on May 12 in Bragg Creek, people said "Save our Trees". Moms, Dads, kids, seniors and young couples turned out to support the move to Save Kananaskis. Most of the 200 people present were from Bragg Creek and Redwood Meadows. They took advantage of a brilliant spring day to join Liz Courtney on the Redwood to Bragg family cycle. They listened to music and speeches. David Eggen led a "shout-out" to Calgary saying Save Our Trees. David Swan called for "Light and Heat" - learn about the issue and use your vote to crank up the heat on the government.
It was serious fun. Everyone took a tag, many joining in a nature walk with Ralph Cartar, the bike rides with Bow Cycle or the hike up Pairie View with Mountain Guide Glen Reisenhofer. Calgarians were conspicuous by their absence, but we hope they'll get the message from CTV and other media who were there to take note. At this rate it will take some time, but we're certain that, eventually, the seeds sown on Saturday will convince the government to Create a Park in the eastern districts of Kananaskis.
The Tag A Tree campaign will run through the summer. If you didn't get a tag, you can get a free one from the ten stores in Bragg Creek or from MEC or Bow Cycle in Calgary.
Thanks to all the volunteers and businesses who help make this a great day for Kananaskis.
